Established 17 years ago, this business was doing millions of dollars turnover with two owners pushing it along. Due to illness they decided to down size the business and learnt that they can make almost as much money by outsourcing the install, and also a lot of the manufacture. Now they only do some light manufacturing which makes this business so much easier to handle than an out right manufacturing and install business, and they still make great money and margins. This means a new owner can come in and give the business a bit of a push, but the work load will never be as hectic as when they had it set up like before. They work in the higher end of the market which is much less competitive, and around 90% of the clients are repeat or referred.

Their solid supplier relationships gives them confidence in being reliable and able to solve customer requirements on time. They offer the correct products for each application, and wont sell the wrong product to just meet a preferred price point. Doing it right gains respect from their customers, and this helps the word of mouth referrals flow. All systems and procedures are in place for a new owner to come in and really shake things up.

They have rolled back their marketing spend to keep the sales manageable in their current health situation. They only outlay $300 per month on Seo for the website and don’t do any social media or Google Adwords. This should be a priority for a new owner. A new owner should budget around $30,000 on Adwords and Facebook in the first year, and this should easily see sales double.

Customer retention rate is around 95% and the quote to sale ratio is around 50%. They are getting between 6-10 leads per week come in from referrals and repeat business, but this would increase significantly if you were to actually have a significant marketing budget.

They have 5 main suppliers. They are all long term relationships, and some are 17 years and still supplying. They also have alternative supply if needed, and have always worked a 2 supplier policy for any one product. They do not need to develop new products as the industry is constantly evolving, and suppliers offer the latest products as they develop so you are always ahead of the rest
